The funeral arrangements for the young Irish girl who passed away following a fall from a hotel balcony in Mallorca have been released. Clodagh Phelan died after she fell from a balcony in the hotel she was staying in with her family in the Alcudia region of the holiday destination. It is understood that somebody else who was staying in the hotel found the 11-year-old the following morning and reported the emergency to authorities.

Now, the Rathdrum native’s funeral details have been released following the devastating accident. Clodagh is survived by a loving family, the only daughter of parents Liam and Valerie and sister to her brothers Will and David. Her death notice reads: ‘Following a tragic accident on the 22nd of July, 2024, aged 11 years.



The darling only daughter of her heartbroken parents, Liam and Valerie and dearly loved sister of Will and David.’ ‘Clodagh will also be forever missed by her devoted Grandfather, John Hobson (Rockstown, Rathdrum) and Grandmother, Joan Phelan (Kyle, Gowran, Kilkenny); aunts and Uncles, Siobhán and Michéal, Ciarán and Deirdre, Michael and Olive, her many and much-loved cousins, her school-mates at St. Saviour’s National School, her teammates on the numerous sporting teams she was part of and a wide community of close and extended relatives, friends and neighbours.

’ ‘Predeceased by her loving Granny Irene Hobson and Grandad Tommy Phelan.’ Friends, family and parents from across the country paid tribute to the ‘beautiful’ young girl who tragically passed away following the fall, with one writing: ‘My heart breaks for you all, sleep sweet little Clodagh xx.’ Another commented: ‘To you, Liam, to Valerie, Will & David, and extended families, my deepest sympathies to you all on the tragic death of your little angel Clodagh.

’ ‘No words can express the sorrow & heartbreak we all feel for you. You are all very much in our thoughts & prayers at this very difficult time. May Clodagh’s gentle soul rest in heavenly peace with the Angels.

’ A third wrote: ‘The news of Clodagh’s tragic passing was beyond devastating. Our family are heartbroken by your loss. Our deepest sympathy goes to her mum, dad, brothers, grandparents, and all her extended family, as well as to her classmates, clubmates, and friends.

May Clodagh play peacefully, now in Heaven’s garden.’ ‘Special sympathy to Clodagh’s grandad, John, a regular visitor to our home years ago,’ they added. Clodagh will repose at her home tomorrow, Saturday, July 27, between 2 pm and 8 pm, with her funeral service taking place on Sunday, July 28, at noon in the Holy Trinity Church in Avoca, Co Wicklow .

Her funeral notice read: ‘Clodagh will be reposing at her home on Saturday 27th July from 2 pm to 8 pm.’ ‘Funeral Service will take place on Sunday at 12 o’clock in Holy Trinity Church, Castlemacadam, Avoca, followed by burial in Ballinatone Cemetery, Rathdrum, A67 W407.’.
