Samantha Paxton, 34, was given the devastating news following surgery to remove part of her lung. After having a chest infection late last year, X-rays and scans had revealed a two-centimetre lesion in one of her lobes. However, weeks after having surgery, Samantha, from Sutton, was diagnosed with Extra Skeletal Osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

To help ease the financial pressure on the family, a friend of Samantha’s, Gill Bate, has helped organise a fundraising event in their aid. Gill, who is a director of a community interest company Come Together Hub, said: “We had the event planned and I asked my partner could we do it in aid of Sammy and raise money for her. “After seeing what she was going through, I just wanted to try to help out.
"She is a lovely genuine girl who would literally do anything for anyone." The fundraising event will take place at the Black Bull pub, on Knowsley Road, in Eccleston, on Sunday, September 29, from 11am to 7pm. It will include live music, food, bouncy castle, face painting, craft stalls, a tombola and raffle.
Gill has issued a call-out for businesses who would be willing to donate raffle prizes. “Some that have come forward have been amazing. “We just want as many people there as we can to raise as much as we can.
