WHILE Wetherspoons is best known for its cheap food and booze, the famous pub brand also has a string of hotels. There are over 55 Wetherspoons hotels dotted across the country, with a brand-new hotel in Southport set to join the pub giant's growing ranks. Located in Southport, the Sir Henry Segrave pub is a Wetherspoons boozer that's routinely described as "beautiful" by punters on TripAdvisor.

The pub will soon be transformed into a new hotel with 30 rooms spread across the first, second and third floors, with a tower suite and "plant room" also included in the plans. Meanwhile, the ground floor will be turned into a hotel reception with a dedicated entrance and a bar. Upgrades will also be made to the kitchen under the new plans.

According to JH.A architects, who submitted the plans on behalf of JD Wetherspoon , the building’s external details "will be retained".

The inside will be designed as "a traditional pub aesthetic" with "historical plaques" celebrating the site’s heritage featured. The historic building dates back to 1880, although the pub opened in 1995. The Spoons hotel has been praised by visitors on TripAdvisor too, with one person describing it as the "cleanest" hotel and another calling it "brilliant". Set inside a Grade II Listed building, the Cabot Court Hotel is home to 21 rooms, many of which have beach views. All of the rooms have an en suite, Freeview television , tea- and coffee-making facilities, a hairdryer, a telephone and unlimited free Wi-Fi throughout.

Described as "great-value" by visitors in the reviews, the seaside hotel is close to plenty of local attractions like Weston Bay. Despite just having 14 rooms, the Last Post in Southend-on-Sea has made a bit of a name for itself since it first opened.
