North East Lincolnshire Council, in partnership with Equans, is set to begin its annual carriageway surface dressing programme in the coming weeks. The process involves applying a bitumen emulsion spray to the road, followed by a layer of stone chippings, which are spread and rolled into the existing road surface. This seals the surface from water, improves texture, and extends the road's lifespan.
Once treated, vehicles can use the surface immediately. Each street will also undergo a second treatment about 10 days after the first. This additional step aims to secure the stone chippings into the new road surface, reducing any loose material.

However, as these works are weather-dependent, dates may change. All affected residents have been notified via letter.
To ensure the safety of workers and allow for the completion of the works, a full road closure will be in effect from 7.30am to 6pm each day. Work may not take the entire day to finish, depending on the length of the street.
During the works, on-street parking will be temporarily suspended within the closure extents. Residents are asked to support the contractor by refraining from parking vehicles on the carriageway or footway in the works location. This ensures a safe working area can be maintained and helps avoid any delays to the works programme.
If you need to use your vehicle during the day when the road closure is in place, the council is urging people to make sure it is moved to an appropriate location outside of the closure area before the road closure begins. If you have a holiday planned during the construction period, you should ensure your vehicle is parked on your drive or at an appropriate location outside of the closure area. If the works are delayed due to parked vehicles, additional days of road closures will be required to enable the works to be completed.
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works. In order to ensure the effectiveness of the surface treatment, the contractor will also implement a road sweeping programme.
This includes three sweeps over a 30-day period to clear any surplus material. The contractor will return at the following times: Within 48 hours of the work completion. 7 to 10 days post-completion.

The council are requesting that residents try to avoid parking on the street during these times to allow for the collection of as much excess material as possible. The sweeper will operate during daylight hours, but the council cannot provide a specific time or date.
