Reports that Holmes and the 42-year-old counsellor have grown close in the wake of the Belfast man’s split from Ruth Langsford have swirled over recent weeks. On Sunday Ms Alexander was spotted by photographers for The Sun wearing the ring on her engagement finger while out running errands near Holmes’ rented apartment in South West London. It has been reported the pair struck up a close friendship over the past couple of years and there are claims the 64-year-old has taken her on a safari park trip, to a Manchester United game and also a Beyoncé concert in the past.

According to The Sun, the woman has told friends they are “planning a future together” and their previous “close friendship” had “gone up several notches”. However, a source close to Holmes told the Daily Mail that claims of an engagement between the duo following the latest images are “wide of the mark” adding: “That is not an engagement ring.” Holmes and Langsford had been living “separate lives” for two years before their divorce was announced back in May after being together for 27 years and 14 years of marriage.

Friends of the couple told The Sun that their relationship had changed after their departure from ITV’s This Morning in 2021. The pair first began presenting This Morning together in 2006, before leaving the programme in 2021 and being replaced by Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond. They have one son, Jack, who was born in 2002.

It’s understood Eamonn's health struggles and chronic back pain played a large part in the demise of the relationship with sources claiming Ruth felt more like “carer”. The GB News presenter underwent spinal surgery two years ago and had a double-hip replacement in 2016. Just last week he gave fans on Instagram an after being forced to use walking aids.

Along with the video of him using an Alter G anti-gravity treadmill, Eamonn wrote: “Trying to remember what it felt like to have legs that worked. “And the balloon holds my weight. What it does really, the machine, if I now walk or run in this, and it helps my legs and my body remember what it was like to move like this before things went wrong, that have been wrong for a long time,” he continues.

“So this gives me a certain amount of freedom and the idea is that I build up muscle memory and y'know things will happen, hopefully in the future. Meanwhile, last week Ruth Langsford's Loose Women co-star Linda Robson said her colleague and pal is . Speaking to OK! at the National Reality TV Awards, Linda (66) said "we’re staying out of it because it’s not our business”.

But she added: “We’re supporting her in any way we can and just keeping her happy. "It’s sad for the both of them but just keeping her spirits high." Eamonn Holmes thanks supporters as Ruth Langsford separation announced.
