E., President and CEO of the Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority, with the prestigious 2024 Aviation Leadership Award. This accolade is reserved for airport professionals who have demonstrated exceptional service and significant contributions to the Florida airport community.
Fredrick J. Piccolo’s recognition highlights his pivotal role over the past two years, where he worked closely with FAC leadership and State Affairs personnel to address numerous legislative challenges. His extensive tenure as CEO and his well-established political connections have been instrumental in advancing legislation that benefits Florida’s airports.
Furthermore, Mr. Piccolo collaborated with the FAC Executive Board and airport CEOs throughout Florida to usher in new leadership within the organization. With an impressive career spanning over 53 years in the aviation industry, Mr.
Piccolo began his journey in 1970 at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. His career path led him to Tampa International Airport, followed by a role as Assistant Airport Director at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport.
Since 1995, Mr. Piccolo has been at the helm of Sarasota Bradenton International Airport as President and CEO. Throughout his 29-year leadership, he has successfully navigated numerous challenges, guiding Sarasota Bradenton International Airport to become the fastest-growing airport among the 100 largest in the United States, comparing growth metrics from 2018 to 2023.
