Francis Brennan has opened up on the things he is looking forward to the most as he gets older, admitting he ‘is 45 in my head.’ The TV personality and hotelier celebrated his milestone 70th birthday last year and was ‘completely oblivious’ to the surprise party organised by his brother John. Francis explained how he had thought he was meeting a solicitor at The Merrion Hotel to sign papers regarding the sale of their hotel.

‘I went to the front desk of the hotel and said who I was and who I was meeting and she had no reservation for me,’ the star explained. The porter approached Francis and directed him to where the party was with Francis noting: ‘I thought, “Oh Christ, I’ve been caught again.” That’s the second time I’ve been caught, my brother did the same for my 50th birthday.



’ Travelling is what the RTÉ star is most looking forward to as he gets older, he said, revealing he wants to ‘be able to get up and go when I don’t have anything in the diary.’ He said: ‘I don’t have the responsibility of being in the hotel to welcome guests.’ It comes not long after the now 71-year-old opened up on how he’s ‘ always’ been single in a rare insight into his personal life.

Having been on Irish TV screens since the 1980s, Francis has often explained he is more focused on work than a relationship. Appearing on RTÉ Radio One’s Oliver Callan Show, Francis agreed with Oliver’s opinion that he’s ‘always been a single man’ and has ‘.
