Sunday, August 4, 2024 The French government has urged its citizens residing in Lebanon to leave the country, citing the heightened risk of military escalation in the Middle East. This warning was issued as part of a travel advisory from the French foreign ministry, emphasizing the growing dangers in the region. In its advisory, the French foreign ministry also strongly discouraged French nationals from traveling to Lebanon.

This caution comes amidst rising concerns over a potential major conflict, especially given the ongoing cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. These tensions have been escalating since October 7, when Hamas launched an assault on Israel from Gaza, prompting Hezbollah to initiate attacks on Israel the following day. The situation remains tense, with the French government taking these precautions to ensure the safety of its citizens.

The ministry’s advisory reflects the seriousness of the current situation and the potential for further violence in the region..
