Wednesday, December 25, 2024 Traveling across Europe requires extra vigilance as strikes continue to disrupt transportation networks in several countries. Workers across various industries are pushing for better pay and working conditions, often resulting in widespread delays and cancellations. While some industrial actions are planned in advance, many are announced at the last minute, making it essential for travelers to stay updated.

Italy’s public transport system is bracing for disruptions as multiple strikes are planned in January 2024. A four-hour national public transport strike on 10 January will likely impact buses, trams, commuter trains, water buses, ferries, and metro services. Travelers should anticipate delays and cancellations, particularly in major cities.



In Florence, additional disruptions are expected. On 12 January, local train services may be affected due to a strike by employees of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana. A separate 24-hour strike on 25 January by tram operators is also set to cause significant delays in the city.

Travelers are strongly advised to confirm schedules before departing. France’s railway system is facing major disruption starting 11 December, with strikes likely to extend into the holiday season. Workers from the country’s leading railway unions are protesting the privatisation of regional train routes.

Both high-speed TGV services and regional TER routes are expected to be affected. While updated schedules will be released 48 hours .
