Tuesday, August 20, 2024 This autumn, Four Seasons Hotel Seoul teams up with Gallery Mondeouvert to showcase Korean art through exclusive exhibitions, events, and a special art auction dinner. This fall, the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul embarks on an artistic journey with Gallery Mondeouvert, a beacon of local artistry, to present “Timeless Art, Passion at Heart”—a tribute to the essence of Korean artistry spanning from August 29 to mid-November 2024. Throughout this period, the hotel will curate an array of events as part of this union, featuring an on-site art exhibit displaying paintings that draw inspiration from Korea’s diverse seasons, beautifully complemented by the floral arrangements of renowned artist Nicolai Bergmann.

Additionally, guests can partake in a unique wine and art auction dinner at the hotel’s Italian eatery, Bocallino, alongside a seminar dedicated to contemporary Korean art, exclusive to hotel guests. A mere stroll away from the hotel, Gallery Mondeouvert, established in 2020, specializes in modern art disciplines such as paintings, sculptures, and photography. The gallery has selected six artists to feature their works at the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul.

Four artists each represent a distinct season and color palette, while two others delve into different natural motifs through artistic installations. These artworks grace various hotel spaces, including the gym, spa, and executive club lounge. Artists such as Hee-kyung Jeon and Sang-woon Nam capture the spirit of spring and summer through vibrant and nuanced brushstrokes and colors.

Se-hyun Lee’s expansive oil paintings, bursting with autumnal reds, depict Korea’s mountainous and island landscapes, whereas Young-wook Choi renders historical Korean winter imagery in serene white tones through his depictions of the Joseon-era moon jar. Hyunjin Yoon’s “Mind Landscape” offers a three-dimensional take on traditional oriental sanshou paintings using black ebony wood, adding depth reminiscent of Korean mountains. In another captivating installation, Sangyong Lee’s “Flying Whale,” a wooden kinetic sculpture, celebrates the mythical migration of the humpback whale, known as the “ocean guardian.

” In the lobby, Nicolai Bergmann’s floral masterpieces enhance each season-themed artwork. His designs range from vibrant spring blooms to serene blue petals and rich autumnal reds, culminating in a winter scene where flowers mimic the appearance of being nestled within a moon jar. On Thursday, September 12, 2024, the hotel’s Italian restaurant, Boccalino, hosts the Art Dining event—an elegant five-course dinner paired with wines, each course themed after a different season and inspired by the art on display.

This evening also includes an art auction, with a portion of proceeds supporting local youth art programs. This event precedes Boccalino’s official relaunch on September 16, 2024. Art enthusiasts staying at the hotel can delve deeper into Seoul’s dynamic art scene through an exclusive Art Seminar on September 14 and October 3, 2024.

This paid event, limited to hotel guests, features a contemporary Korean art discussion and an art-focused hotel tour led by an expert. As Seoul gears up to host the third annual Frieze Seoul and the long-standing Kiaf Seoul in September 2024, the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul’s collaboration with local artists not only amplifies the city’s position as a burgeoning global art hub but also enriches the cultural experiences available to both Korean and international visitors..
