Pune: Four men on Wednesday night picked up a quarrel with a 43-year-old software engineer near Karve Stree Shikshan Sanstha in Karvenagar and robbed his gold chain worth Rs 2 lakh. The Warje Malwadi police said the incident happened around 8pm when the victim was riding his scooter to a dentist's clinic. The police have booked the suspects under sections 309 ( robbery ), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 126 (wrongful restraint) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

An officer from the Warje Malwadi police said on Wednesday night, when the complainant was riding scooter towards the dentist's, two men, who were following him on another scooter, told him to drive properly as he had splashed water on them. "The victim ignored them and went on driving. This was when the duo forced him to stop and abused him," he said.



The officer said that, meanwhile, two more men on a scooter joined the duo. "The four men were abusing the victim and pushing him. One of them, who had covered his face with a handkerchief, all of a sudden snatched the techie 's gold chain and all four of them drove away from the spot," the officer said.
