They worked a treat for Willow Cottage, a four-bedroom bungalow, in Co Kilkenny, which has been transformed by its current owners. “It was soulless when we first moved in,” says David White, a stone mason, who bought the property in late 2019 with his wife Jennifer.
“It was a house and not a home, and in need of some love.” Built by the council around 1930, the 1,160sq ft bungalow had been rented in recent years. While it was structurally sound, the interior had a clinical feel and needed overhauling.

First, they made alterations to the imposing ramp up to the front entrance. David used his stone cutting skills to create an attractive stone feature, which softened the appearance, and added a new front door.
