JOHN DALY may well have enjoyed the greatest moment of his golfing career at St Andrews. Daly still competes in the event as he is exempt until the age of 60. Last year at Hoylake he missed the cut but hung out in Hooters after his tournament ended. He admits the Home of Golf still holds a dear place in his heart but these days it's another fabled links that tops his list.

Despite its lofty status, the R&A removed it from their roster due to the resort's association with Donald Trump and his actions in the wake of the 2021 Capitol Riots.
In a video taken by the golf cult hero and posted on social media by executive vice president of development at the Trump Organization, Larry Glick, Daly described the facility as "unreal". He said: “Went out and tried to play a little bit, this place is amazing. Donald Trump swings club in frustration as he misses putt at Turnberry “It is the best golf course in Scotland, I think.
“St Andrews is my baby, but I think I just found my new baby. We’ve got the 18th green right here, this thing is unreal. “I want to thank Mr Trump and all the staff here for all the great service they gave us.
” Glick said on his Instagram: "Always happy to welcome my great buddy, @pga_johndaly to the beautiful @trumpturnberryscotland ! "The Trump Golf family is excited to watch you play @trumpscotland in a few weeks at the PGA Seniors Championship." Daly is on the entry list for the PGA Seniors Championship but due to his knee injury he's not guaranteed to play. But in response to one fan who asked about his participation, he said: "Going to try.
" Daly is also among the names due to tee it up at Carnoustie in the Senior Open this week. Colin Montgomerie , Padraig Harrington and Bernhard Langer will be out on the course when the tournament kicks off tomorrow.
