Hyderabad: Jeedimetla police on Friday arrested a private firm employee on the charges of killing his foster-mother in their residence in Quthbullapur in the late hours of Wednesday. Police said Venu Kumar, 33, assaulted Peddi Jayamma, 60, first and later stabbed her with a sharp object after she refused to part with money. He wanted to buy alcohol and manage other expenses with that money.
According to police, Jayamma and her husband Swamy, a construction contractor, adopted Venu when he was an infant. However, Venu got addicted to alcohol and spent all his earnings on it and unable to bear this, his wife also left him a few months ago. Meanwhile, he started harassing Jayamma for money, police said.
In the last few days, he was forcing the foster parents to sell their house and give him the money. On Wednesday, he picked up a quarrel with her, cops said. A murder case was registered followed a complaint from Swamy.
