Not even the wind and rain could dampen the spirits of those who participated in the Al Gray Electric Lighted Truck parade in Fortuna on Dec. 13. More than 30 businesses, individuals, and organizations signed up for and participated in the parade.
With horns honking and all ablaze in holiday lights and decorations, the parade entries traveled the new route this year, beginning and ending in downtown Fortuna, and along Fortuna Boulevard. “In true Humboldt County fashion, we all bundled up, not to miss a holiday tradition,” said Felicia Thomsson, Fortuna Chamber of Commerce CEO. The Chamber coordinated this year’s event.
“Our parade would not have been possible without my co-coordinator Mavis Amen. She stepped in to help me with whatever needed to be done. It truly takes a village to have a successful event.
” The year, the five judges were Fortuna Mayor Tami Trent, Fortuna Police Chief Casey Day, Fortuna City Manager Amy Nielsen, Fortuna business owner and chamber member Stefanie McGrath, and community member Jasmine Carr. “Thank you for showing your holiday spirit, and we really appreciate everyone who participated in this annual event,” Thomsson said. She also expressed her appreciation to the Fortuna Police Department and the Fortuna streets crew for their assistance with the parade.
Winners were selected in seven categories, and each received a special etched and lighted award and a goodie bag. The winners are: Best Community entry – Mickey & Sons Constructi.
