A former Harrods executive who had been due to become the head of the department store Fenwick this month will not take up the role. Nigel Blow worked at Harrods from 1992 to 2007, during which time Mohamed Al Fayed was the owner, and rose to become chief merchant, with a seat on the board. Last month a BBC documentary broadcast detailed allegations from more than 20 women that Al Fayed had sexually assaulted or raped them while working at the Knightsbridge department store.
A spokeswoman from Fenwick said: “In July 2024, we announced that we would be appointing Nigel Blow as CEO of Fenwick. Nigel Blow has informed us that he will no longer be taking up this position.” Blow, however, told The Daily Telegraph that Fenwick had withdrawn the job offer earlier this week over questions about whether or not he was an appropriate hire.
