Like many big cities, Bristol is an ever-evolving place. The street scene seems to be constantly changing, but there are a few things we would love to see back. For instance, there is no shortage of long-gone pubs , clubs and venues likely to bring a wistful smile to revellers from days gone by.

In this list, we remember eight things you don't see in Bristol anymore: For 25 years, it was common to spot cast members of the BBC hit show Casualty around Bristol. Clifton Suspension Bridge and the Harbourside could often be seen on the medical drama.



You were perhaps most likely to catch a sight of one of the stars if you were riding on St Philips Road towards Bristol and Bath Cycle Path. This was because Casualty's hospital set was based on a trading estate off St Philips Road, before the show left for Cardiff Bay in 2011. The Cakesmiths wholesaler now occupies the St Philips Road unit, and opened a new 'destination' cafe there in April 2021.

The programme has made a few nostalgic returns to Bristol, including in May 2018, when a huge petrol tanker crash was filmed on Yate's 'Road to Nowhere'. Television and film crews are still a common sight in Bristol for other shows, including more recently The Offenders and Alex .
