The Tracy High football team had no answers for Edison Friday night as the Vikings came into Tank Town and rocked Wayne Schneider Stadium with a 40-0 victory. The visitors put a dampener on the festive mood as the packed house celebrated the Bulldogs’ homecoming. The Vikings held their hosts to just 62 total yards of offense while putting four first-half touchdowns on the board at the other end to start off their Tri-City Athletic League (TCAL) campaign with a bang.
Edison (1-5, 1-0 TCAL) added two more TDs after the interval to hand the Bulldogs (2-4, 0-1 TCAL) their third straight defeat. It was also the first time that Tracy has been shut out under head coach Jeff Pribble who is into his fifth year at the helm. “I saw a mess out there tonight,” a lost-for-words Pribble told the Tracy Press after the final horn.
“It was just one of those nights where nothing seemed to go well. “It has been a long week for these boys as there are a lot of sideshows that happen around here during homecoming. It’s tough for a group of kids to focus on the field when they are pulled in so many directions — especially when you’re up against a team that has so many athletes that can put you in a bind.
” Vikings’ quarterback Devin Rasmussen was one of those players in truly inspired form as he tormented the Bulldogs’ secondary with four TD passes inside the first 24 minutes. Rasmussen had all day in the pocket for most of the game and he slinged the ball to three different rec.
