com PARK HILLS – Central already stored a mental blueprint away for handling the tense situation that materialized in strangely familiar fashion on Friday night. As steady rain fell on a conference showdown unsettled through regulation – this time on home turf – control of the football was safe in the capable hands of senior Jaxon Jones. The first-year starting quarterback netted his fourth rushing touchdown from 5 years out in triple overtime, and the Rebels sealed a wild 40-34 victory over rival Ste.

Genevieve. Jones punctuated a double-OT triumph at Fredericktown two weeks ago with an interception on the final play. He extinguished the Dragons on a keeper behind the right-side linemen.

Karras Foster caught two touchdown passes, and Dakota Bowers contributed three tackles for loss. Central began triple OT with a defensive stand following a favorable coin toss. Neither team could generate points in the second extra period.

Ste. Genevieve went empty on three incomplete passes, but Devan Graf missed a 27-yard field goal attempt for the Rebels. Jones compiled 169 yards on 25 carries as his workload increased down the stretch.

He was 12-of-24 passing for 202 yards, and also shined with five tackles for loss at inside linebacker. Wins have not been easily obtained or visibly pristine this season for Central (4-1.
