ST. ALBANS CITY — Liam LaBelle is still getting used to being a brand name in St. Albans, but he agrees that “Bubba Duffer’s” has a good ring to it.
The meaning behind it? He couldn’t tell you. Located in the courtyard of the former foundry building at 1 Federal, Bubba Duffer’s Favorites is the new food truck run by the LaBelles – Jeff, Tara and Liam. The name of the venture is a combination of nonsensical nicknames given to the LaBelle grandkids by grandpa.
Liam is “Duffer.” Logan – who died last year – is “Bubba.” “So, Bubba Duffer’s,” Jeff explained, as he sat at his desk at Sparkle Klean in downtown St.
Albans. The LaBelles opened the family commercial cleaning business 12 years ago, and Bubba Duffer’s Favorites is their latest business venture started up to continue what Logan liked to do, while giving Liam a chance to get some business experience. “It’s more than just opening up the trailer,” Jeff said.
“We wanted to give back for our other son.” The LaBelles are dedicating a portion of the revenue made from Bubba Duffer’s to the Highgate Volunteer Fire Department, in honor of Logan LaBelle. Logan died last August in an ATV accident.
He was 22. Getting started While the menu is still evolving, Jeff and Tara have fashioned Bubba Duffer’s Favorites after Logan’s idea of providing meals at sporting events. As Tara explained, the family had been considering rolling out a food truck at local baseball tournaments as Logan spen.
