Pune: Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar on Thursday directed the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority ( PMRDA ) concessionaire for the third Metro line to focus on completing the 1.7km integrated flyover between SPPU junction and E-Square by Nov-end. "The PMRDA concessionaire (Pune IT City Rail Corporation) should abide by the timelines.

The administration should ensure that the work is put on fast track with all the necessary permissions without any delay," the deputy CM said in a meeting after inspecting a section of the integrated flyover, which is part of the 23km Maan-Shivajinagar third Metro line. Pawar's inspection followed the issuance of notice to the concessionaire for not repairing the road along the Metro line. The deputy CM also called for speeding up traffic diversion permissions and road widening at select points to avoid inconvenience to the commuters.

He told the concessionaire to abide by the deadline of March 2025 for the third Metro line. "Police should give permissions for round-the-clock work, especially on public or govt holidays, to speed up the work. Around six-seven locations have been identified for road widening," the deputy CM said.

After receiving several complaints, PMRDA had issued a show-cause notice to the concessionaire on Sept 21 to carry out the repairs on the roads along the third Metro line by Sept 25. "The concessionaire has repaired several sections. Work on certain spots could not be carried out owing to incessant rainfall.
