FARGO — Halloween lovers will tell you there’s nothing like being home for the howl-o-days! Just ask Abby Haake. She’s the area’s HallowQueen, offering up one of the fanciest Halloween-themed “haunts” at her south Fargo home. This year, she’s encouraging others to add a skele-ton of decorations to their yards with a contest.

The spirit behind the FM Area Halloween Trickers and Treaters Facebook group has purchased a trophy for the “FM Best Yard Haunt 2024.” The grinning pumpkin-headed scarecrow will go to the top vote-snatcher from five area homes that survived an earlier culling, er, vote. Among the contestants, Haake said there’s no rest for the wicked.



“It’s going really well, everyone seems pretty excited. And everyone keeps telling me that they’re adding to it daily. Some people are really getting into it and getting competitive so it’s exciting to watch,” Haake said Sunday, Oct.

27. Anyone can vote for the haunt they believe is best at creeping it real by going to the FM Area Halloween Trickers and Treaters page from Oct. 30 to 5 p.
