A number of flood warnings have been issued in Bolton’s surrounding areas following heavy rain on New Year’s Eve. Two parts of the town are under flood warnings, and others are under warnings, which mean flooding isn't expected, but is a possibility. River levels remain high at Lilford Park in Leigh.

(Image: Google maps) Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Lilford Park Brook, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around properties on and around The Avenue to Peregrine Drive. A flood warning has also been issued for the River Douglas at Wigan, adjacent to River Douglas from Robin Park to Baker St.

Flooding is possible in other areas around Bolton and Greater Manchester, including the Lower River Irwell catchment including areas in Greater Manchester , the River Glaze catchment including Leigh and East Wigan, Flood alert for Upper River Irwell catchment with Oldham, Bolton, Rochdale, Haslingden, Ramsbottom and Rawtenstall.
