Son Heung-min is desperate to lift a trophy with Tottenham this season It has been a stop-start season for Tottenham Hotspur skipper Son Heung-min . Injury problems have limited the South Korean international’s participation to 18 appearances across all competitions , where he has registered six goals and as many assists. Due to him picking up injuries of late, Ange Postecoglou has had to manage his game time accordingly and keep his captain fresh.

On Sunday, Spurs travelled to the St Mary’s Stadium to take on rock-bottom Premier League side Southampton. Ange Postecoglou’s side were on a five-game winless run heading into the game. However, they bounced back to winning ways in emphatic fashion, thrashing the listless Saints 5-0.

The 32-year-old played a crucial role in Spurs’ big victory on the South Coast, scoring once and assisting twice before the gaffer decided to take him off at half time and wrap him up in cotton wool. He led from the front and after supplying two assists at Southampton, the versatile forward became the highest assist provider in the Premier League (68) for Tottenham than any other player in the competition’s history.
