Firefighters rescued a person from a car which overturned following a crash on Moss Bank Way yesterday, Friday. The crash, which happened just before 5pm near the junction with Drummond Street, involved two vehicles. Photos from the incident show a car left on its side.

Shaun Hill, who owns SJH Powerwashing Services, was cleaning a nearby property when he heard the crash. Speaking to The Bolton News, Shaun said: “I was washing the property across the road, on the main road, and I just heard a bang – as I turned around, a car was upside down outside Vets4Pets.” Sign up to our newsletters to get the latest stories sent straight to your inbox.



Shaun said the incident left him feeling shocked – and that the area is notorious for crashes. He added: “It’s got a bad reputation – one guy nicknamed it the ‘junction of death’, but I’ve never seen a fatality there. “Death junction, they call it.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, said: “At just before 5pm on Friday (September 20), two fire engines from Bolton Central fire station and the enhanced rescue unit from Ashton fire station were called to reports of a crash involving two cars on Moss Bank Way, Bolton.

“Firefighters helped rescue a person from one of the cars before handing them to the care of North West Ambulance Service. “Crews made the scene safe and were in attendance for around 50 minutes.” According to the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s "Vision Zero Strategy", the city region is committed to try to eliminate ‘all road fatalities and life-changing injuries’ by 2040.

The strategy says a "safe system" approach should be taken to create safer roads and reduce the impact of any mistakes made by any road user. North West Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment. If you have a story, I cover the whole borough of Bolton.
