Firefighters have warned that the risk of fire is high over the coming days as temperatures across the county heat up. East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said the Met Office fire severity index is moderate for Monday and likely to be high on Tuesday. The service is urging people to take precautions to minimise the risk.

"Have a picnic instead of a barbecue and take rubbish home. Dispose of glass bottles properly as they can magnify sunlight, starting fires.
"Extinguish cigarettes very carefully and do not discard them on the ground." Temperatures are set to reach 27C across parts of the county today and will be only slightly cooler tomorrow. A heat health alert is also in place and people are urged to stay out of the sun during the hottest parts of the day and to check on vulnerable family members.
