Pune: Bharati Vidyapeeth police on Saturday registered a case of cheating , forgery , and endangering life and personal safety of others against two men who posed as doctors and treated patients who were complaining of piles. Dr Amit Shah (51) of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) lodged a complaint with the police after verifying the medical certificates the two men displayed in their clinic loacted in Ambegaon Khurd. Senior inspector Dashrath Patil of Bharati Vidyapeeth police station said, “We registered the First Information Report ( FIR ) against the two men for posing as doctors.
A probe has been initiated.” According to the FIR, PMC received a complaint from a person in April, earlier this year. The individual stated in the complaint that the two ayurveda practitioners administered allopathy medicines to his wife and used syringes to cure her of piles.
The FIR states, “A team of PMC officials visited the clinic and took photographs of the certificates shown by one of them claiming that they were medical degrees in electro homeopathy. The team found cotton swabs and syringes used for anaesthesia as well.” The two men charged Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 per patient.
The medical fact-finding committee which submitted its report a few days ago stated that the degrees were fake. PMC officials then approached the police.
