Mumbai: A 65-year-old man from the city’s western suburbs has been accused of sexually assaulting his 15-year-old adopted child in his apartment. The Khar police on Sunday registered a case against the senior citizen, who is currently receiving treatment for cancer. The alleged crime took place when the suspect’s wife was away from home, leaving him alone with the minor.
According to the police, the couple had adopted the girl just three months prior to the incident. The police are investigating the case, and so far no arrests have been made. The suspect has been charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rape and molestation, as well as under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
