Not only have the airline now finished refitting all its long-haul fleet of A350s and A330s with the revolutionary Air Lounge business class seat, but they are now increasing flights from London Heathrow by 50%. From 27 October 2024 until at least the end of Summer 2025, the Finnish airline will add two extra daily flights to its Heathrow to Helsinki route.
The addition will give passengers quicker onward connections through its hub. The route will operate up to six times per day in each direction, up from four times daily this summer. Flying from London Heathrow with Finnair offers the opportunity to experience its long haul product on some flights complete with the non-reclining flatbed Air Lounge seat and in-flight entertainment.
The airline has up to two services per day to Helsinki using long-haul aircraft. The extra flights will be operated by Finnair’s short-haul fleet of Airbus A320s and A321s with a 2-2 configuration in business class with a free middle seat. “London has always been an important city for Finnair, and for our customers, so we are thrilled to be announcing this news ahead of the 70th anniversary of the London-Helsinki route in September. “These new flights are also timed to give our customers increased choice and flexibility when traveling during the peak morning and evening periods and will facilitate even smoother connections onto our network in Northern Europe and the Far East.” Finnair also recently completed a refurbishment of its Schengen lounge to complement its existing Non-Shenghen lounges which are used by customers traveling to the UK and long haul.
Passengers will now have a comfortable place to relax when departing for European Schengen zone countries. The lounge can be found on the Schengen side of Helsinki Airport, near gate 21 and offers fantastic views of the runway for any aviation lovers. The space has been expanded in size with 440 seats and offers different zones for eating, resting and working.
