Santa Maria High School's historic Ethel Pope Auditorium will provide the backdrop for a celebration of the beauty and richness of Mexican culture when three local high schools collaborate to present “Fiesta Mexicana”. Two shows are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov.
16 at 7 p.m., and will showcase performances by the ballet Folklorico’s of Pioneer Valley High School, Righetti High School, and Santa Maria High School.
Also performing this year will be the Righetti Marimba Band along with special guest Los Danzantes de Aztlán from Fresno State University. Xitlali García, president of Pioneer Valley High School Ballet Folklórico, said, "I love folklórico because it allows me to connect with my Mexican roots while also discovering new styles of dance that each state of Mexico has." Gabaldón, “Fiesta Mexicana” is a two-hour program featuring Mexican folk dances from over a dozen different regions. “Fiesta Mexicana is always something to look forward to every year. These three groups are amazing, they have all allowed each and every one of us to express and value our culture," said senior Eddie Herrera, a dancer and 4-year member of Righetti Ballet Folklórico.
Combined with this impressive variety of Mexican folk dances will be a presentation of traditional and contemporary Mexican and Latin American songs performed by Righetti’s Marimba Band. Tickets for the �.
