AgencyThe Federal Government, under its Renewed Hope Initiative, has begun distributing empowerment items to 18,500 women across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.The distribution is being managed by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, in partnership with the office of Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu.
Mrs Tinubu, who launched the distribution in Lokoja on Friday, announced that 500 women in each state, including the FCT, would benefit from the initiative.Represented by Kogi governor’s wife, Hajia Sefinat Ododo, Tinubu explained that the North Central zone—comprising Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, and the FCT—would be the first to benefit.She stated that the initiative aimed to empower 18,500 women across the six geopolitical zones, promoting poverty alleviation and increased entrepreneurship activities.
The First Lady praised Mrs Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, the SSA to the President on SDGs, and her team for their dedication to advancing women’s empowerment and achieving SDGs across the country.“This empowerment will benefit 18,500 women nationwide. The North Central zone will be the first to receive items such as freezers, gas cookers, generators, and industrial grinding machines,” she said.
The items will be distributed by governors’ wives and RHI State Coordinators in the North Central zone, with the South-South zone to follow.Tinubu emphasised that the initiative re.
