Welcome to the FC Bayern Campus Roundup, where the matches of U-17s, U-19s and U-23 of Bayern Munich are recapped and reviewed. Though no live streams are available without an FCBayernTV subscription, the highlights will be hyperlinked on top of the respective results. And this time, even the U-17s get their highlight package.
Without any further ado, here is the recap: Bayern (U-23) II 4-1 Aschaffenburg Bayern lineup (with subs): Schmitt – Aznou (46. Denk), Dettoni, Breitkreuz, Dell’Erba – Aseko (68. Scott), Fernández, Jensen (90.
Scholl) – Ličina, Wagner (68. Kern), Demircan (86. Qashi).
Goals: 1:0 Fernández (20.), 2:0 Breitkreuz (38.), 3:0 Jensen (58), 3:1 Schäfer (61.
), 4:1 Kern (84.). Reeling after suffering a gruesome five injuries in a week, Bayern II were in dire need of reinforcements ahead of this game and they received those reinforcements in the form of the youngsters called to the first team for pre-season returning to the U-23s.
Still, left back Adam Aznou was forced to line up at right back and winger Davide Dell’Erba had to deputize at left back. Could the returnees give Bayern the push they needed to win this game? As it turns out, it would not be up to them to drag the team to a win. Though they displayed their immense quality, the returnees showed a clear lack of connection with the rest of the team obviously borne from not playing with them for such an extended period of time.
Instead, it would be up to the one snubbed from pre-season to drag Bayern II to a win: Jonathan Asp Jensen. The set piece specialist set up the first two goals with a precise corner followed by a sumptuous free kick delivery to set up a 2-0 halftime lead, before all but sealing the deal with a smart goal of his own in the second half. Some defensive frailties would give Aschaffenburg a goal and a glimmer of hope, before Timo Kern snuffed it out in the 84th minute with his 5th goal in 5 Regionalliga games.

1860 Munich U-19s 2-3 Bayern U-19s Bayern lineup (with subs): Klanac - Dalpiaz, Puljić, Schäfer, Ofli (79. Hoffmann) - Nasrawe, Kouam (46. Durakov), Chávez (79.
Olychenko) - Binder (59. Wilson), Eckl (59. Codjo-Evora), Sadat (87.
Chemwor). Goals: 0:1 Dalpiaz (6.), 1:1 Wagner (7.
), 1:2 Nasrawe (26.), 1:3 Eckl (30.), 2:3 Erdogan (75.
) Isn’t a derby win the sweetest? Especially when one can travel to a rival’s own stadium and steal all 3 points from under their noses? That has been impossible for Bayern’s senior team for far too long because of the complete mess of a club that is 1860 Munich, but the U-19s were granted the chance to do so this past weekend and they set out to accomplish it with glee. Just five minutes into this game on a rainy, gray day, a corner from midfielder Felipe Chávez ended up touched home by right back Magnus Dalpiaz and the visiting support erupted into cheers, ecstatic at the lead. 30 seconds later, the scores were level as Bayern’s defense continued to back off of the attacker and he responded by utterly blasting a shot past Klanac from long range.
The next goal was always going to be crucial and thankfully it was a Bavarian one, scored in the 27th minute as the diminutive Jussef Nasrawe somehow managed to win a header in the box and squeeze the ball in at the far post. Another goal immediately followed in the 31st minute, setting up a dominant position for Bayern. They had multiple chances to add to the scoreline but, from here on out, squandered them all.
These failed chances allowed 1860 to reduce the arrears to just one goal in the 75th minute, setting up a tense final stage of the match. But the red half of Munich managed to hold out until the end of the game without conceding another. When the final whistle blew, the U-19s were too tired to do anything but silently celebrate as the clouds parted and sun began to shine on a Bavarian triumph.

) Another game, another win by 8 goals. After last week’s 9-1 opening day victory, Bayern’s U-17s followed up that thumping victory with another thumping victory. It is undoubtedly a couple of glorious results for Bayern, but perhaps it is not just due to the team’s quality.
The 2024/25 season introduced a new league system for the U-17s and U-19s in which, in the first half of the season, leagues of 8 play against one another based on regional proximity instead of competitive equality. This was heavily criticized ahead of the change and the imbalance in the competition in the U-17 and U-19 leagues may already be laid bare. Nor are Bayern’s U-17s an outlier: Karlsruhe’s U-19s and VFB Stuttgart’s U-19s have a +15 goal difference in 4 games at a rate of nearly a four goal margin win a game, Borussia Mönchengladbach’s U-19s have a +21 goal difference after four games at a rate of over a 5 goal margin win a game, Hoffenheim’s U-17s have a +12 goal difference after two games at a rate of a 6 goal margin win a game and Hertha Berlin’s U-17s have +13 goal difference after two games at a rate of a 6.
5 goal margin win a game. They make Bayern’s average of an 8 goal margin a game look almost normal. Still, this uncertainty should not fully distract from a brilliant performance from Bayern’s U-17s.
As one can see in the highlights, while the opponents were clearly outmatched in a few of the highlights, several of the goals are absolute beauties brought about by stellar team and individual quality. After nearly winning the league last season, perhaps the U-17s development can be augmented by going all the way this season. This result puts the U-17s on 6 points after two games, two points and a goal difference of 13 ahead of Ingolstadt’s U-17s.
