Upgraded motor accident reporting process Drivers reporting a motor accident can now make an online notification with their Singpass details before going to the accident reporting centre to complete the process. Singpass identity authentication was made available on the Gears Online Accident Notification website ( m.

Instead of filling up identification information manually, the data will be taken from Singpass, eliminating the risk of errors. Accident scene photos and videos can be submitted online after login. Under the Motor Claims Framework by the General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA), it is a requirement for a report to be made to the insurer within 24 hours of a motor accident, or by the next working day. This is separate from filing a traffic police report, which is needed if the accident involves factors like fatality, or damage to government property or a foreign vehicle. In February, GIA also launched the Vehicle Accident Report History service, which shows past records of a vehicle’s accident reports going back up to six years.

Each report costs $90 before GST and can be bought only by the owner of the vehicle. This can be used to show the history of the car to prospective buyers. BMW EV app simulation The My BMW app uses real-world data to show what motoring life will be like with an electric vehicle.

PHOTO: BMW BMW is trying to convince customers of its internal combustion engine (ICE) cars that electric vehicles (EVs) can work in their daily lives, through a new feature in the My BMW smartphone app. To start, the user, who would be an owner of an ICE BMW, will select an EV model as the alternative vehicle for the Electric Vehicle Analysis function. After the ICE car has made at least 200 journeys and covered more than 2,000km, the app will be able to show how many of those journeys could have been done with the EV alternative on a single charge.

The app uses real-world driving data from the ICE car. BMW said it wanted to “combat the range anxiety and concerns about the everyday practicality of an all-electric vehicle that are still prevalent today”.
