SAYBROOK — The Saybrook Plaza Shopping Center has welcomed a new addition, with the opening of Fashion For Less, a discount clothing store offering brand-name overstock apparel. Owner Vinay Sikka, who currently resides in Colorado, said the store officially opened last Sunday, catering to budget-conscious shoppers. He believes the store is a perfect match for the community, which has limited options for affordable clothing, aside from Walmart in Ashtabula Township.

The Saybrook Plaza Shopping Center is located at 2460 West Prospect Rd. “It’s a very blue-collar neighborhood and it fits in the, you know, into the budget,” Sikka said. “I didn’t think I was going to do that well, but it’s doing very good.

We are happy with the performance as a brand new store. Our biggest attraction is Giant Eagle and Big Lots. They bring a lot of people in.

“ Sikka said he has other Fashion For Less locations in Kansas City and the Chicago area. “We are selling their same product, which is we buy from wholesalers and that’s their stuff,” Sikka said. “Costco, Walmart, Target, could be anybody, Macy’s, whoever has overstock.

” Since the opening, the store has been well-received. Store Manager Shania Feliciano said there are clothing for children, women and men. There is currently summer items priced at $5 in the back of the store, with plans to do the same for winter clothing.

“We see a lot of ages,” she said. “Everyone is so nice. We would like to give them an affo.
