Fashion brand Plaza Collection is planning to establish a new headquarters in Salford, backed by a £7 million investment. The company, which was established in 1982 and currently sells around 25,000 garments to customers every week both wholesale and online, has submitted plans for offices, a showroom and warehouse on a former car dealership site it owns on 266 Bury New Road, Salford. The family-run firm, currently operating from OM House on Broughton Street in Cheetham Hill, says it has outgrown its current site and has been seeking a new location for the past five years.

The proposed development will include the 'redevelopment and extension of the former car showroom buildings to accommodate Plaza Collection Ltd's new headquarters,' according to planning documents, as well as a five-storey storage unit. The report adds those developments would come "Alongside the erection of a standalone self storage unit, which would be let out to a specialist operator, independent of the Plaza Collection business, and provide a second income stream. The total GIA [gross internal area] is 5,358 square metres.

" The company, which employs about 40 people, expects the larger site to enable further recruitment, with plans to increase staff numbers by 50 percent in the coming years. The application is currently under review by Salford City Council, with a decision expected by year-end, reports the Manchester Evening News. –.
