A new trailer released for an upcoming film featuring Jack Black has elicited mixed responses, with some fans eagerly anticipating what they believe could be a 'new contender for the worst movie ever made'. The comedic actor, famed for his roles in School of Rock and the Jumanji reboot, is set to appear in a live-action adaptation of the globally popular video game Minecraft. Originally launched in early access in 2009 as Cave Game, Minecraft has since evolved into a worldwide sensation.
Developed by Mojang studios, this sandbox game offers players the freedom to explore and construct virtually anything they desire from basic blocks. A film adaptation is slated for release next year, and a newly released trailer provides the most comprehensive glimpse yet at the realised world, although not everyone is convinced. Tenacious D frontman Black will portray Steve, the player character from the game since its full release in 2011.
