The grieving family of Derry cousins Kían Dawson-Kirk and Eoghán Dawson have expressed their gratitude to the community for its support “during the most difficult days of our lives”. Eoghán (20) and Kían (16) lost their lives in a single-vehicle crash at Cross, Quigley’s Point on 24th August. Kían passed away at the scene, with Eoghan, who was driving, succumbing to his injuries three days later at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

Ahead of the month mind mass for the young men on Thursday, their relatives have shared the following acknowledgements: “We the family of Kían Dawson-Kirk and Eoghán Dawson would like to express our deepest and heartfelt gratitude to all those who came to the wake, sent mass cards, gave donations, sent messages of support, food and those who stood with us during the most difficult days of our lives. “To the Garda, ambulance, fire service, the organ transplant team, the doctors, nurses and hospital staff in Letterkenny, Altnagelvin and Royal, Belfast who cared for our boys with kindness, professionalism, and the upmost care, we thank you for your dedication, may God bless you all. “We especially like to thank W J.

O’Brien & Son, Funeral Directors, Eglinton, for all their help and support in preparing the boys so beautifully with compassion and in a dignified manner. “A special thanks to Father Séan O’ Donnell and Father Roni Zacharais for the care and support to our families and the beautiful Requiem Masses for our boys. It was the perfect send-off, and he captured our boys’ characters so well.

“Lisa would also like to express sincere, heartfelt thanks to all at Cornerstone City Church. Your prayers and support have helped her immensely and will continue to do in the coming times. “Thank you to Lauren, Isobel, and Adam Montgomery for the beautiful singing and music.

“Although it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our families deep appreciation.” Kìan and Eoghán’s month mind mass will be held in St. Brigid’s Chapel, Carnhill Thursday 26th September at 7.
