Fair City co-stars Connie Doona and Shane Quigley Murphy have announced on Instagram that they’ve welcomed their first baby into the world. Joining Fair City in 2022, Shane, who plays Gareth Boyle on the RTÉ soap , entered a relationship with his girlfriend Connie, who plays Zoe Allen, in the summer of 2023. Taking to her Instagram story on Thursday, Connie shared the brilliant news that she gave birth to the couple’s son Ruadh on Monday, August 19.
In a post that would make anyone’s heart melt, Shane shared a snap of little Ruadh lying in his cot wearing a striped baby grow with a blue blanket that had his name stitched on it. Thanking his followers for their support in the wake of the good news, Shane wrote: ‘Thank you everyone for all the kind words. Myself and Connie will get back to you all over the weekend.
‘Love Shane, Connie and Ruadh.’ With Connie discovering she was pregnant just two weeks before Christmas, the news arrived as a shock to Shane, who was in the midst of his Dancing with the Stars training. ‘I had just started Dancing With The Stars, we were a week-and-a-half in.
I wouldn’t say I was shocked because we put two and two together. ‘We decided if this was happening, it was happening. I knew that we were ready for this and she would be the best person to raise a child with,’ he previously told RSVP.
During his time on Dancing with the Stars, Shane opened up about him and Connie initially keeping their relationship a secret from their Fair City castmates. ‘It was an interesting one. We both came out of long relationships and it was one of those things meeting as friends initially, on a similar level as human beings, as artists and having goals that aligned.
‘Above all what I have with her is a beautiful kindred soul bond. We get on as human beings, like a best friend,’ he said..
