Rob Deutsch picked up 56 Campbell Parade for nearly $20.65million in 2021 - and now the Land and Environment Court has given him the greenlight to convert it a three-story building into a ritzy hub. The court upheld his appeal against Waverley Council's decision to block the project after Mr Deutsch's had a conciliation conference earlier this month that led to an agreement between the parties.
This approval comes despite previous concerns raised by the council, including violations of the site's height restrictions and potential overshadowing of neighboring homes. A report presented at a council planning meeting also reportedly noted objections from local residents regarding possible impacts on Bondi Beach's heritage streetscape, construction noise, and the extent of excavation needed for the redevelopment.
