MANCHESTER CITY are Premier League powerhouses these days and have won six of the last seven English league titles, winning them plenty of new fans. But one former Rangers player has revealed that he was a boyhood supporter of the Sky Blues even before the success - after making his first Premier League appearance against them at the Etihad Stadium at the weekend. 4 Ipswich were beaten 4-1 by Manchester City but it was still a dream day for one of their stars Credit: Reuters 4 George Edmundson spent a year and a half at Rangers Credit: The Sun 4 The defender posted a picture of himself as a youngster sporting Man City clothing George Edmundson signed for Rangers from Oldham in summer 2019, calling the move a 'dream come true' thanks to family connections with the club.

The defender made 15 appearances in all competitions in his first season and scored twice, including in a Europa League last 16 tie against Bayer Leverkusen . But the Englishman fell out of favour in the first half of the 2020/21 season behind closed doors, and he moved to Derby County on loan in the January transfer window, before leaving for Ipswich Town permanently in summer 2021. Now 27, Edmundson has been with Ipswich on their rise from League One to the Premier League, and made his first appearance in the top division off the bench in the Tractor Boys' 4-1 defeat to City on Saturday.

He said: "Premier League debut vs boyhood club." And supporters were quick to comment their congratulations for Edmundson fulfilling his dream.

One fan said: "You should be very proud, you have been excellent for Ipswich, never let us down and always given your all, you deserve your chance in the Premier League. It's your journey."
