To foster the preservation of cultural heritage and encourage lifelong learning within the community, as well as to enhance cultural tourism for visitors, Chula’s Office of Arts and Culture Administration suggests a variety of activities accessible to all at Chula. Chulalongkorn University, Thailand’s first and foremost university, is more than a campus.

“Chula is rich with Thailand’s cultural heritage and way of life. Its architectural beauty makes walking around the campus a delightful experience. It is an art space with performances ranging from Thai classical music to Western-style musical performances alongside art exhibitions by students and renowned international artists.

Museums with a wide range of exhibits offer so much to learn from,” Kunchit Jitratan, Director of the Office of Art and Culture, Chulalongkorn University describes this colorful area while inviting visitors both Thai and foreign to explore. He also recommends the types of activities for visitors: Architectural Treasures – The Devalai building cluster stands as a symbolic landmark at Chula, offering a picturesque setting for students and visitors to capture in photos. The Chulalongkorn Auditorium and Pharotracha House, both recipients of the Association of Siamese Architects Architectural Conservation Awards, add to the campus’s historic charm.

Educational Museums – Spread across various zones, Chula boasts several museums worth exploring. Among the highlights is The Human Body Museum, one of only 11 in the world and the first in Southeast Asia to present human bodies and parts in a 3D format using plastination techniques. Additionally, the Invertebrate Museum showcases rare exhibits, including Thailand’s largest freshwater crab, the Giant Mountain Crab (Potamonbhumibol Naiyanetr).

Enchanting Music Performances – Chula’s Art and Culture Building Music Hall hosts monthly live performances featuring traditional Thai, classical, and contemporary music by both Thai and international musicians, all supported by state-of-the-art audio-visual technology. The university also holds annual events, including the grand CU Symphony Orchestra concerts, which take place twice a year, and a special Thai classical music ensemble performance every March 26th to celebrate Chula’s founding anniversary. Exploring Beyond Campus – After touring Chula’s main campus, visitors can take a short walk to the Bantadthong area, where they can savor a variety of Thai-style street food, visit art galleries and cafes, shop at trendy malls, and explore Buddhist temples of both the Mahayana and Theravada traditions, as well as churches and a Chinese shrine.
