Srinagar, Nov 21: During a conference under the continued medical education (CME) programme organised by the department of General Medicine SKIMS Medical College Srinagar, experts called for proper management of hypertension in J&K. The programme titled “Hypertension & Co morbidities: An update” provided insights on the topic from renowned experts in cardiology, endocrinology, nephrology, neurology and gynaecology. The daylong CME held at JVC, SKIMS Bemina offered updates to the medical professionals on the latest guidelines, diagnostic techniques, and treatment strategies for hypertension, emphasising the importance of effective management in co-morbid conditions.
At the onset, Dr Pravin Kalvit, Senior Consultant and Physician Kalvit Hospital, Chattisgarh presented his paper on “Digitising Blood Pressure”. The session was chaired by Prof Khalid Mohiuddin and Prof Ishrat Hussain Dar. Prof SN Narasingan, Vice President “World Hypertension League” presented his findings on “Resistant Hypertension: Challenges and future ahead.
” Delivering his speech Prof SN Narasingan stressed on the use of combination of drugs to control and manage hypertension. He cautioned that mono-therapy in hypertension should only be used for very elderly and fragile patients. The speech delivered by Prof SN Narasingan generated a discussion on the subject with delegates and senior physicians from Kashmir exchanging their views and ideas on the management of hypertension.
