We also mentioned in the article that the National Award-winning filmmaker is planning it either as a film or a web series. EXCLUSIVE: Madhur Bhandarkar ADMITS that he’s making Fashion 2: “In the last few years, can you recall the name of any supermodel? Bollywood celebs have taken over and have become showstoppers” Bollywood Hungama recently spoke to Madhur Bhandarkar on the 25th anniversary of his debut film Trishakti (1999).
He confessed that the news was indeed true. Madhur Bhandarkar said, “I feel Fashion has all the potential for a sequel. Today, the world of fashion has changed.
As a filmmaker, I feel I have a lot of material and hence, it can be turned into a show, spanning a couple of seasons. But it also is apt for a film. Hence, nothing has been decided yet.
The subject, however, is interesting. Social media has completely taken over. There was a time when we used to hear of supermodels.
But in the last few years, can you recall the name of any supermodel? Bollywood celebs have taken over and have become showstoppers. This is what I want to ask through Fashion 2 - where have these supermodels disappeared? A girl sitting in some small town can be a model or an influencer. I want to focus on these aspects.
” Fashion starred Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut and both won the National Award in the categories of Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress respectively. It told the story of Meghna Mathur (Priyanka Chopra), a small-town girl who became a supermodel and how her life took a turn for the worse. Kangana Ranaut, meanwhile, essayed Shonali Gujral, a top model who suffered a downfall.
The other actors in the film were Mugdha Godse, Arjan Bajwa, Samir Soni, Arbaaz Khan, Chitrashi Rawat and others. Fashion was released on Diwali in 2008 and was loved for its writing, execution, performances and soulful music score by Salim-Sulaiman.
