If you haven’t yet treated yourself to the delights of Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building , do yourself a favor and catch up on Seasons 1 through 3 now, ahead of the show’s Season 4 premiere on August 27. For the uninitiated, Only Murders in the Building —which debuted back in the fall of 2021—follows the unlikely threesome of Selena Gomez ’s Mabel Mora (a lost, sweater-sheathed aspiring artist crashing at her aunt’s apartment), Steve Martin’s Charles Savage (a widower and retired actor who enjoyed a long career as the star of a low-brow sitcom), and Martin Short’s Oliver Putnam (a scarf-wearing theatrical producer with a penchant for hummus and a string of musical flops under his belt). All three live in the same historic Upper West Side apartment building, The Arconia—based on the real-life Belnord, completed in 1908, which the likes of Lee Strasberg and Martha Stewart once called home—where a series of murders have taken place, and they endeavor to find out who’s responsible.

..all while recording a true-crime podcast about their proceedings.

Much like the Arconia’s revolving doors, which see a very Upper West Side cast of characters spin through them (a professional bassoonist for the Philharmonic, a cantankerous co-op board president, a few cat people), OMITB has seen all manner of megawatt actors come and go as guest stars. The new season will be no different: A teaser released on August 19 promised appearances from Zach Galifianakis, Eva Longoria, Eugene Levy, Molly Shannon, Kumail Nanjiani, Richard Kind, and Melissa McCarthy in the next installment. Below, a recap of all the Only Murders in the Building cameos to date—and a preview of what’s to come.

When does Season 4 of Only Murders in the Building premiere? The show’s fourth season lands on Hulu on August 27, with one episode dropping each week. What will happen in Season 4 of Only Murders in the Building ? Per the spolier-packed, just-released teaser trailer, Hollywood comes a-callin’ in Season 4. Molly Shannon’s character (new to the series) masterminds a film adaption of Mabel Mora, Charles Savage, and Oliver Putnam’s podcast, sending the crime-solving trio out west to meet the actors cast to portray them all: Eva Longoria, Eugene Levy, and Zach Galifianakis, respectively.

Hilarious! (Richard Kind, Melissa McCarthy, and Kumail Nanjiani also pop up as new characters.) The Upper West Siders grapple with their portrayals—and the turns the script takes without them at the wheel—when, all of a sudden, yet another murder in the building occurs. This time, the victim is Sazz Pataki, Charles’s former stunt double, played by Jane Lynch.

She was in his apartment when someone—perhaps mistakingly—shot her dead. More fodder for the podcast! What stars have appeared in Only Murders in the Building so far? A fellow Arconia-dweller, Teddy is the owner of Dimas Delis, an early sponsor of the podcast. Both he and his son are, at various points, suspected of murder.

After interning at the Washington Post under Kay Graham, Cinda began podcasting, winning awards for her true-crime show All Is Not OK in Oklahoma. Her series would inspire the leading trio (Mabel, Charles, and Oliver) to start a podcast of their own. Sazz was Charles’s stunt double on the series Brazzos.

It’s said they have an uncanny resemblance. Jan is a professional bassoonist living in the Arconia whose music Charles enjoys as it floats through the building. She may or may not be murderous (no spoilers here!), but Charles doesn’t seem to mind and falls for her nonetheless.

Detective Donna is a recurring character (there are lots of deaths to investigate, after all) who doesn’t appreciate the meddling podcasters. Sting occupies one of the more deluxe units of the Arconia, and believes himself to be the reason for the murder in Season 1. Joy, Charles’s former hair and make-up artist on Brazzos , comes back when the show gets a reboot.

Upon her return to Charles’s life, they strike up a romance and she eventually moves into Charles’s apartment, bringing a tank full of fish along with her. Introduced in Season 2, Alice is the owner of the fictional Third Arm Gallery in Bushwick, Brooklyn. She DMs Mabel on Instagram to meet up, and soon after the two hit it off (and then some).

Schumer leased the apartment now inhabited by Sting. She turns up in the series as a potential producer of a streaming service inspired by the Only Murders in the Building podcast. Rose claims to be the mother of a longtime resident of the Arconia, though, in reality, she was Charles’s father’s mistress.

Ben is murdered onstage on the opening night of Oliver’s doomed new musical Death Rattle. The circumstances of his death are the focus of Season 3. Loretta is a quiet and unassuming figure with dreams of a Broadway career.

She gets her big break late in life, as the star of Oliver’s Death Rattle musical extravaganza. Kimber is a social-media-loving cast member of Death Rattle who TikToks about her beauty regime while backstage. Matthew plays a method actor cast in the role of the constable in Death Rattle —a part written for Charles, who battles severe stage fright.

Tobert is the cameraman following Ben Glenroy around as he films a documentary about the making of Death Rattle..
