No lead appears safe for the San Francisco 49ers after the team blew a double-digit lead to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The 49ers took a 23-10 lead into halftime before surrendering 14 unanswered points in a 24-23 loss in San Francisco. The 49ers did not punt or score in the second half, as their four possessions ended in two Brock Purdy interceptions, a Jordan Mason fumble, and a turnover on downs.

The 49ers dropped to 2-3 on the season after the Cardinals' surprising comeback at Levi's Stadium in San Francisco. Head coach Kyle Shanahan's squad held a 23-13 lead heading into the fourth quarter on Sunday. The 49ers' second loss on the season came in dramatic fashion to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3.



The 49ers had a 24-14 lead over the Rams with 11:57 to go in the fourth quarter before allowing Los Angeles to come back to win 27-24 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. After Sunday's loss to the Cardinals' Shanahan is now tied with Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh for having the most double-digit fourth-quarter leads end in losses since the 2017 season with six such choke jobs.
