Everspace 2: Titans may not be a paradigm-altering expansion like Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty but it adds a bunch of new stuff to the game’s world(s) for you to explore and engage with. As the title suggests, these additions are quite large. The first new major addition are Leviathans.

These get introduced with a new quest that then turns into random encounters. Leviathans are, to put in a nutshell, space whales. The starter quest involves helping a scientist research this ancient, hitherto thought extinct species.

One thing leads to another and the quest runs you afoul of the Redeemers. A new faction that has their own plans for these living fossils. After this first encounter, these Redeemers will keep popping up at every corner to slow your progress.

One of the biggest things in Everspace 2: Titans is a giant skeleton in the Khosh Orbit. We all thought this would lead to something interesting down the line, but the manner in which Rockfish Games have worked it into the DLC story quest is legitimately brilliant. Once you’ve completed a requisite list of tasks, it’s time to summon a Leviathan to.

.. swallow your ship? See the crux of the Titans DLC involves literally exploring the insides of these Leviathans to find treasures.

Once you find the pearl inside a Leviathan, you take it back to the good scientist who will crack it open to get you a bunch of loot. The best part of this whole affair is that the insides of the Leviathan changes every time you summon it, which is a welcome return to Everspace ’s roguelike roots. Repeatable dungeons with a chunk of loot at the end? Yes please! Once you’ve wrapped your head around the concept of Leviathans, it’s time to face the Dreadnaught.

This is a massive capital class warship that’s been stolen by the bad guys and it’s up to you to make sure they don’t get to use it for nefarious ends. I’m not going to spoil exactly how it all shakes out but at the end of each dreadnought encounter lie several crates with..

. you guessed it! Loot! Between the Leviathan and the Dreadnought, there isn’t a whole lot new in Everspace 2 beyond some new and exciting ways to get loot. Rockfish Games have already confirmed they’re working on a second, much larger expansion slated for a 2025 release.

The way things are going, it would seem there’s much more to be learned about the Ancients in the Everspace universe. Everspace 2: Titans is really just a small taste of that exciting future, and a way to keep yourself entertained until that future inevitably arrives..
