She moved to California in her twenties, living in Los Angeles, and is married to Mexican businessman José Antonio ‘Pepe’ Bastón Patiño, who she also has a son with. The Desperate Housewives star told Marie Claire in a new cover story: “I’m privileged. I get to escape and go somewhere.



Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.” It’s been a while since she lived in LA, but she explained that Trump ’s victory was what solidified her desire to spend less time in the city – and her country as a whole.

Discussing LA, she said: “I had my whole adult life here. But even before [the pandemic], it was changing. The vibe was different.

And then COVID happened, and it pushed it over the edge.
