While many of us will opt for a staycation this year, others may choose to take road trips in Europe . As if driving a car isn’t enough without the need for petrol, road tax and car insurance, it is no wonder people are struggling to run their vehicles.

In light of this, new research by Northgate Vehicle Hire has found Europe’s priciest toll roads , bridges, and tunnels so you may want to make a note if you’re planning to go away this year. The team analysed data in 44 European countries, to find out toll road names, lengths and the associated charges. In some cases, tolls were priced per km, researchers estimated the length of the toll road before using this figure for the calculation.



Meanwhile, bridges, tunnels and other tolled roadways were also included in the study. Charges were then converted from the listed local currency to GBP using Google’s currency converter. The currency was valued at one euro to 0.

Elsewhere, notable bridges, crossing the Øresundsbroen bridge between Sweden and Denmark costs a whopping £45.72 to travel across. Finally, if you want a scenic route while you drive then the Svinesundsbron bridge between Norway and Sweden is a cost-effective option at £1.
