Spain has been named the most challenging place globally to secure a sunbed, according to new research from Asda Money. The study revealed that one in five people would alter their day's plans if they failed to secure a sunbed, and one in six would consider deploying their child or an elderly person to secure a bed using the sympathy vote. The top three destinations where securing a sunbed proved most difficult were Mallorca, Tenerife, and Barcelona.

The importance of bagging a sunbed was evident as tourists admitted to its significance. Over a quarter confessed to having disputes with other holidaymakers over a lounger, with 70% admitting these disagreements had affected other aspects of their holiday.
