The East Tennessee State women’s basketball team hit the century mark to open the New Year on Thursday night at Brooks Gym. The Lady Bucs scored the first 14 points of the second half in a 103-55 win over Division II Tusculum. It tied the sixth-highest scoring output in program history, 11 behind the 114 scored against Furman in 1987.

Forty-three field goals were the second most ever in a game. ETSU (9-6) finished the game on a 20-4 run and closed its non-conference schedule. The Bucs forced 31 turnovers on defense and committed just four, none in the second half.

“Thirty-one turnovers and one single-digit quarter,” ETSU coach Brenda Mock Brown said. “That means we’re not giving up 56-60 points and we held them to 55. For us too, it was efficient offense.

We weren’t turning the ball over and giving them easy offense. We turned the ball over four times and when you do that, it’s wonderful.” Brecken Snotherly scored a career-high 19 points to lead the onslaught.

Courtney Moore finished with 17 points. Kendall Folley accounted for 15 points and six assists. Paige Lyons hit 12 points.

Gemma Gruttner Bacoul, who was responsible for the 3-pointer that gave ETSU 100 points, scored nine, and Lucy Hood was next with eight. “That was a big team win for us, especially going into conference play, having that confidence,” Snotherly said. “It definitely helped me.

It’s been a struggle to get going at times this season. To set a new career high for myself, I want to .
